Here is an abridged version of a recent e-mail from Alejandro Melchor of Barcelona, as well as my response.

Dear Jim,
I read your blog every week and copy to my Chessbase database all the games on the Philidor Counter Gambit and the Latvian Gambit, as they often transpose.
In the www.chesspub.com forum ( from GM Tony Kosten ), I talked about and analyzed the PCG in a series of long articles, similar to the e-mail from Matt Fleury on 6...Bc5?! (dubious, in my point of view). The article is essentially on the Latvian Gambit, but you can read some PCG suggestions on

Kind regards,
Alejandro Melchor

After the opening moves 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 f5 4.dxe5 fxe4 5.Ng5 d5 6.e6 Bc5 7.Nxe4 Be7 8.Qg4 g6 9.Ng5 Nf6 10.Qa4+ c6 11.Nf7 Qb6 12.Nxh8 Ne4 13.f3 Qf2+ 14.Kd1, worthy of consideration is the immediate 14...Bxe6!?.
This looks like an improvement on 14...Bh4 15.Be2 Qxg2 16.Rf1 Bxe6 17.Be3.
