Candidate master Lev Zilbermintz [pictured] sends this e-mail, regarding the chess column in The New York Times.
I have heard from sources that you are considering eliminating the chess column. This is a disgraceful decision, a slap in the face to history and chess players worldwide. Not sure if you know your own history, but there has been a NYT chess column since 1855.
On the behalf of chess players from Essex and Union counties in New Jersey, I demand that The New York Times keep its chess column. Because, if the column is not preserved, some chess players might stop reading The New York Times.
