"Michael was a member of the club continuously since 2009. For many years, he played frequently in tournaments. He was a fierce competitor, gracious in both victory and defeat, and always happy to analyze a game or position. One day a few years back, I recall watching him play checkers (using the pawns from two chess sets) in the back room of the club. It turns out Michael was a checkers Master, in addition to being a life-long lover of chess!
