Grandmaster Lombardy is one of the country’s most distinguished tournament players, authors, and coaches. Among his countless tournament successes are the World Junior Championship in 1957, team and individual gold medals at the 1960 World Student Championship, and the 1955 Marshall Chess Club Championship.
In 1972, GM Lombardy served as Bobby Fischer’s official second at his historic World Chess Championship victory against Boris Spassky in Reykjavik, Iceland.
