Milovanovic-West, Hamilton Quad 3/24/2007

I played a draw against Dragan Milovanovic in round one of today's Hamilton quads. Before the game, Dragan mentioned an improvement in our Sicilian Najdorf from the March event.


From the diagram after Black's 38th move, Dragan recommends 39.Qh4!, instead of the game continuation 39.a3?? Qb3 40.Qc2 Rxc3! winning for Black . Play might continue 39...Bxc3 40.Qxb4 Bxb4 41.Rxd5 Rh8 42.h4 Be1 43.Rg5 with good drawing chances.


A likely continuation would be 43...Kb7 44.h5 Bxg3 45.Rxg3 Rxh5 with a book draw.
