e-mail from Jamal Munshi

After the opening moves 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6Jamal Munshi [pictured] asks: "Do you think 6.a4 is a drawish game?  This is what I am finding with engine analysis.  By the way, is there something wrong with 6...e5?"

When I play the Najdorf variation, after 6.a4 I avoid 6...e5 because White can play an eventual h3 followed by g4, saving a tempo on the 6.g3 line.  Bobby Fischer answered 6.a4 with 6...Qc7.
